Circular Consumption

In a circular city, citizens, highly informed on the issues of sustainability, circularity, short supply chains and the active role of the individual, adjust their consumption patterns and lifestyles, pushing companies to change processes and administrations to define more sustainable policies.

Developing more sustainable consumption patterns among citizens represents a huge opportunity to shift the economy in a circular direction. Cities are able to help, motivate or push their citizens in this direction. Great importance is assumed by increasing citizen awareness, which can be fostered through specific training and information courses. At the same time, it is important to stimulate all forms of collaborative economy and active citizenship regarding the uses of city spaces, to be promoted as virtuous examples and to be encouraged. Citizens can thus regain spaces that are not used, converting them into places for the promotion of culture, health, and positive lifestyles.
